About me.......
My name is Jodie Herbert and I began my career in 2009, and now work for the NHS as a Senior Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, alongside Independent Practice. My specialisms include assessment of Autism (ADOS-2) alongside a multi-disciplinary Team, as well as assessment and treatment of children with Cleft Palate speech difficulties. I work in a range of settings including schools, nurseries, clinics and Children's Centres. I'm very lucky to have a job that I love, and I am passionate about supporting children and their families one step at a time to develop successful communication skills. I have a wealth of experience working with both pre-school and school aged children who may have language delay, language disorders, speech sound difficulties (including articulation and phonological difficulties and Childhood Apraxia of Speech) as well communication differences associated with Autism. I believe children learn best when they feel safe, are having fun and have the ability to regulate themselves and this is something I strive to offer in all of my sessions. I am able to offer clinic based sessions in Lenham, Kent or home visits dependent on travel distance. I am unable to treat children in the Ashford area who are open to the local NHS service due to the conflict of interest between my private and NHS work.

Since I began my career, I have sought to continuously develop my skills and have completed a vast range of additional training. This includes Makaton, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, VERVE Therapy, Intensive Interaction, Attention Autism, Assessment and Therapy for Children with Cleft Speech Characteristics, to name a few!
Services offered
Assessment is often carried out through play based activities designed to be appealing to children. Assessment will include not only how much language your child is able to understand, or use words to express themselves. It also focuses on the fundamental skills that children require for successful communication, such as attention and listening, play skills and how a child relates to the world, as well as their use of non-verbal communication.
I will highlight your child's strengths, as well as identify areas that they would benefit from support with. Listening to any concerns that the you may have, I will work jointly with you to highlight potential therapy targets for the future.
Price-£150 for a session lasting up to 90 minutes.
Formal assessment of your child's speech sounds will be carried out, detailing any phonological, articulation or motor planning difficulties. This will involve giving a differential diagnosis and establishing the best targets to make the maximum difference to your child's intelligibility.
Price-£120 for up to 90 minutes
1:1 therapy sessions are based around developing your child's speech or language skills, based on specific targets and designed to target any areas where your child needs support. Using a range of therapeutic techniques, and most importantly-designed to be fun! These sessions aim to empower parents to feel confident in supporting their child's communication at home. Carryover activities are provided so that families can continue to practise new skills at home.
Price -£75 per session
Report writing can include a full write up of an assessment, detailing your child's full communication profile. It will provide a complete breakdown of their skills, a summary of areas for development and written targets.

Reports can also be provided following completion of a block of therapy, detailing progress and future targets
